2014-05-08

To build the capacity of our teachers and expand their horizon internationally, BAI selected Cao Ying, Associate Professor of Department of Public Administration and Wang Xuemei, Associate Professor of Department of Sociology to engage in the exchanges and research on projects in the US for six months. Days ago, the two professors accomplished their visiting tasks and returned to BAI.

During their research in the Carter Center, they were part of multiple research undertakings of China Program. They met experts and scholars in related fields extensively and understand the Sino-US relationship and interest balance of China and the US in Africa more deeply.

Additionally, the two professors attended courses of Emory University, the so-called “Southern Harvard”, such as the political system in China, as well as other seminars and thematic lectures. They also engaged in extensive academic exchanges with Chinese scholars and students in the US. By referring to a large number of English materials in its library, they laid a solid foundation for future academic research and course design. Besides, the professors actively participated in some academic activities of Georgia Institute of Technology and Georgia State University.

They believe that the study, research and work in the US left them a lot to dwell on, as they not only participated in featured academic activities, collected rich academic data, met experts and scholars with profound academic background, but also paved the way for further understanding of the social conditions of the US, honing their English language proficiency significantly and the research and development of new courses and new topics.
