On October, 16th, 2013, BAI and North-West Institute of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration Russian National Economy co-held the First Beijing Administrative Forum (International). Executive Vice President Wang Minzhong and Vladimir Nicholas kiselyov, Director of the Department of Sociology of the North-West Institute, Shi Meilan, Director of Department of Research of Chinese Academy of Governance delivered opening speeches. Han Jiugen, Vice President of BAI chaired the opening ceremony.
During this forum, under the theme of ”New-type of Urbanization and Public Policy Innovation”, major issues concerning new-type of urbanization were discussed in a profound way. This suited the urgent need of current situation and demonstrated the novelty of this academic activity.
The forum was divided into two sessions. In the morning session, topic discussion was conducted. Four scholars gave wonderful keynote speeches surrounding the topics of the development model of Beijing urban-rural integration, the complaining mechanism designed to resolve social conflicts in the process of urbanization, the spatial transformation and choice of social policies and policy change for coordinating urban and rural development. In the afternoon session, Chinese and Russian sides held exchanges. Representatives from both sides shared policy experience on detailed matters in the process of urbanization.
This forum exerted social and academic impact, realizing the targets of presenting achievements and experience, sharing information and sparking new thoughts. It will be conducive to the combination of international horizon and local experience. Several important media, such as Beijing Daily, Beijing TV, Guangming Daily and People’s Daily, all had this event covered.
BAI will take this opportunity to further play its role as an administrative college in laying out the scheme of sustainable development, so as to build itself into an influential academic brand as well as a critical platform for academic exchanges to serve the scientific development of Beijing.
