U.S Professor Mark Rozell Lectured in BAI

Recently, Prof. Mark Rozell from George Mason University was invited to BAI and gave a lecture entitled The Obama Presidency at Midterm. Prof. Dong Wu from Dept. of Public Administration chaired the lecture.

Based on the paradox of U.S. Presidential Leadership and the “Two Presidencies”, Prof. Rozell analyzed the different authorities of US president at home and abroad, and illustrated the function of public opinion and the role of congress. He talked about American citizens’ expectations towards President Obama in coping with the issues of overseas war, financial crisis, rapid rise of unemployment rate and two parties’ relations. Before the end of his lecture, Prof. Mark Rozelll answered questions raised by trainees of the 1-year training group in BAI. The lectured ended with summary from Professor Dong Wu.


Prof. Mark Rozell said he felt honored to visit BAI and he was attracted by the profound Chinese culture; he hopes he can make some contributions to mutual understanding and common progress between US and China. Mr. Keith Lommel, Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer in Public Affairs Section of U.S. Embassy at Beijing and Ms. Pan Haiyan also attended the meeting.
