Singapore High-ranking Government Officials Studying in BAI

To better understand China’s successful experience in opeing up and reform, esp. China’s relevant policies in policits, economy, society and foreign affairs, Singapore Civil Service College (CSC) sent a delegation of high-ranking government officials to BAI to reveive a five-day training program specially designed for them by BAI. Mr. Yin Qingyan, vice president of BAI, received the delegation and adressed on the welcoming ceremony.

CSC is the key institute for the training of civil servants and officials in Sigapore. The 24-member delegation headed by Mr. Roger Tan, director of the Institute of Public Administration and Management of CSC, was the fouth of its kind that Singapore civil servants came to study in BAI. Compared with the previous three delegations, the members were higher in ranking and wider in working field, coming from different departments such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health and universities and colleges. During the 5 days’ training, they aimed to knowing and studying China’s administrative reform, economic development, macroeconomic control and foreign policies, Beijing’s achivements in community construction, social welfare and security, urban planning and vocational education etc.

BAI paid high attention to the training program and after carefully studying the need and requirements of the Sigapore side, BAI finally decided to execute the program through the combination of lecturing in classes and site-visiting. Therefore, BAI arranged several specific courses for the delegation including: China’s Macroeconomicl Policy lectured by Mr. Du Ping, Director General of the Training Center of National Development and Reform Commission; Current International Situation and China’s Foreign Policy by Mr. Ye Zicheng, Director of Diplomatic Department of Peking Universtiy; Changes and Problems in China’s Administrative Reform by Dr. Wang Luozhong from Management College of Beijing Normal University, and Main Tasks of Beijing’s 12th Five-year Plan by Director Zhao Li from Department of Economics of BAI.

The delegation also visited Beijing BN Vocational School, community service center of ShiChaHai Sub-district Office and Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall.

Upon the successful completion of the training program, BAI boosts the capacity to training civil servants and officials from developed countries.
