Dr. Doust used the theoretic frame “cognitive capitalism” to generalize the structural transition of the contemporary global capitalism, which was different from the traditional industrial capitalism. The cognitive capitalism was kind of post-fordism, whose main production was in the form of non-material labor and emotional commodity. The essential characteristics were flexiblity, mobility and pluralism. On this basis, Doust connected cognitive capitalism with the concept of space in culture creation, and brought forward an interpretation model called “polymerization space” to understand the contemporary role that cultural acitivities played in the production of economic value. The so-called “polymerization space” meant kind of space that could integrate varied intersection points, which indicated the simultaneous emergence of different groups of cultural activities. It was a thoroughly dynamic process without solidified rules and regulations.

The audience thought over the points actively and raised some questions. They shared and discussed further on issues related with the connection between polymerization space and publicity, connotation of publicity, and the possibility of global publicity and how to realize the possibility etc.
