Recently, Professor Harald Hoffman from Administrative College of NRW in Germany visited Beijing Administrative College. During his staying in Beijing, Mr. Hoffman had an academic meeting with the faculty of the department of Law, and also delivered a lecture to the postgraduate students in BAI.
Prof. Hoffman has visited BAI several times and maintained close cooperation with Prof. E Zhenhui, the chair of the Law Department, and other colleagues. This time, both sides met again and had a deep dialogue on legal system, law enforcement, illegal phenomenon and many other issues between China and Germany. Especially, they made consensus on establishing the joint research project under the theme of the Decision-making and Implementation in Administrative Management between China and Germany.
Mr. Hoffman was invited to give an English lecture to the postgraduate students about Representative Democracy and Indirect Democracy in Germany. He analyzed the origin, types and characteristics of German democracy combining with the development of modern Germany history. He also listed specific examples to describe the concrete forms of German democracy, such as railway station case, civil petition and so on. Later, he answered many questions arose by the students. His clear, substantial, vivid and humorous English speech has not only widened the students’ field of vision, but also improved their ability of listening and spoken English.
