——10th Anniversary Celebration of the Joint Training Program
in Public Administration from 2000 to 2010 for Beijing Municipal Civil Servants
10th Anniversary Celebration of the Joint Training Program in Public Administration from 2000 to 2010 for Beijing Municipal Civil Servants was convened ceremoniously by Beijing Administrative College, on July 16th 2010. The celebration was hosted by Liu Yang, Vice President of BAI.

The Sino-U.S. Joint Training Program in Pubic Administration has been hosted consecutively for 10+ years by Beijing Administrative College, the University of Georgia and Beijing Human Resources and Social Security Bureau since 2000. There are many significant achievements that have been resulted since the beginning of the Joint Training Program. On the celebration, Wang Jiangyu, Executive Vice President of BAI; Steve Wrigley, Vice President of the University of Georgia; Cheng Jing, Deputy Director of Beijing Human Resources and Social Security Bureau; delivered speeches from different perspectives to summarize and prospect the significance and future trends of the training program.

We sincerely invited Rusty Brooks, Director of International Center, Carl Vinson Institute of Government, UGA, to review the formation and growth of this joint training program. He also expressed his hope to strengthen further cooperation.

The most important thing is, the U.S. Embassy gives great support to this event. Sr. Tony Hutchinson, Cultural Affairs Officer from the U.S. Embassy, was invited to attend the celebration. He delivered a wonderful speech , highly evaluated the joint training program and highlighted the whole celebration. He said that the training program could not only promote the understanding between the instructors and the trainees, BAI and UGA, but also promoted the friendship between Chinese and American people. He hoped the training program would go further in the next ten years.

In the end, Liu Yang, Vice President of BAI, concluded the celebration. She mentioned there were over 200 civil servants of Beijing Municipal Government have been trained during these 10+ years. Now, these people are playing very important roles throughout Beijing area. The trainees have gained a better understanding of both domestic and foreign theory and practice through this program and their innovative ideas and abilities have been improved. Except that, there were approximately 50 government officials, university professors ane experts were selected by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government based on their professionalism and expertise in the specific topics. These practitioners and professors not only serve as teachers, but often have become students themselves as they learn from their Chinese students about China and Beijing.
