The 10th Sino-US Training Program finished successfully its first phase in BAI

        The 10th training program was successfully hosted by Beijing Administrative College during July 5th to 16th , 2010. This program is greatly supported by Beijing Administrative College, Beijing Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and The University of Georgia. The program consists of two phases: the first phase which lasts 2 weeks, is held in Beijing Administrative College with participants who are selected by Beijing Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. The University of Georgia provides the instructions and courses. The second phase, which lasts 3 weeks, is held in America. The U.S. Federal government, Georgia state government and other local governments in Georgia provide instructions and also arrange for the trainees to study and visit in America. For the 10th training program, all the American instructors are from The University of Georgia, Georgia state government and other local governments in Georgia. They are Dr. Rusty Brooks, Director of Carl Vinson Institute of Government International Center; Dr. Rob McDowell, Director of Carl Vinson Institute of Government Governmental Services and Research Environmental Policy Program; Susan Ridley, Director of Financing and Investment Division, Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission; William F. Bruton Jr., City Manager of Marietta, Georgia; Tony Landers, Atlanta Regional Commission Commissioner; Melvin Davis, President of Association County Commission; William F.Floyd, President of Georgia Municipal Association. The courses they offered include Environmental Protection and Sustainability, Governing in the Post-Financial Crisis Era, Innovations in U.S. Metropolitan City Management, The U.S. Metropolitan City Management System. In the two weeks, the instructors showed their professionalism and expertise in many specific topics which praised highly by the trainees, meanwhile the trainees set up deep friendship with American professors and officials with various learning activities during the training session.

        In a word, this training program has served to not only promote academic exchange and cooperation among the three institutions, but also has functioned to promote communication and interaction between the US instructors and the Chinese trainees. As a result, it has served to build friendship and cooperation between Beijing and the state of Georgia and to promote friendship and communication between Chinese and American people. We sincerely wish the training program has a bright future!
