Experience Sharing on Poverty Relief with Bangladesh Partners

2021-07-07

At the important moment of welcoming the 100thanniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, China’s fight against poverty has been fully victorious, and the Communist Party of China has fulfilled its solemn commitment to eradicate absolute poverty as scheduled. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that the fight against poverty must not only be done, but also done well.

In order to share the story of China’s poverty alleviation and present a comprehensive China to the world, the International Cooperation and Exchange Department held an online meeting with its partner Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center on July 7, 2021 to introduce China’s practical experience in poverty reduction. The meeting was presided over by Ms. Liu Jingdi, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department, BAI and Ms. Liu Xiaoyun was the keynote speaker.

As a former frontline worker in poverty alleviation, Ms. Liu Xiaoyun reviewed China’s achievements in poverty alleviation, analyzed the reasons for the successful victory in the battle against poverty, explained the poverty alleviation concept of“seeking truth from facts, tailoring measures to local conditions, classified guidance, and precise poverty alleviation”, and introduced China in detail to Bangladesh partners.

One hour after Ms. Liu Xiaoyun’s introduction, the two sides continued to have nearly one hour of in-depth exchanges on issues such as women’s poverty alleviation, the implementation of poverty alleviation policies and supervision mechanisms, the participation of the people in poverty alleviation work, the security of children’s schooling in poverty-stricken areas, and the prevention of poor people from returning to poverty. The Bangladeshi side spoke highly of China’s achievements in poverty alleviation. Through this meeting, they have a clearer understanding of how China successfully achieved its poverty alleviation goal, which has provided important inspiration for poverty alleviation in their own context. The Bangladeshi side also proposed to publish the valuable information of this exchange in Bangladeshi publications so that more people will know the successful cases of China’s poverty alleviation. Our side responded positively. This move not only opened up a new form of cooperation between the two sides, but also provided a specific way to tell the story of China.
