From July 8 to 15,
at the invitation of FGV and National School of Public Administration of Brazil
(ENAP) and the International Law Institute (ILI) in US, BAI Institute Committee
Member Mr. Tan Jidong led a delegation to Brazil and the U.S. The members of
the delegation include Mr. Lyu Tingjun, professor and Director of Training
Affairs Division, Ms. Zhou Yueli, associate professor and Deputy Director of
the Department of Law, Mr. Chen Cong, Deputy Director of the Department of
International Cooperation and Exchange, and Ms. Wang Fei, associate professor
from the Department of Law.
During the visit,
BAI delegation held discussions with FGV on think tank function and operations,
academic cooperation and international training. BAI also explored potential
cooperation with ENAP on civil servant training and had an experience sharing
with ENAP on the management of training.
In the US, BAI’s
law professors thoroughly examined US administration law and administrative
judge system and shared their research findings with US counterparts. Furthermore,
the visit to Georgetown University Law Center further enhanced BAI’s
understanding of US administrative law system and its teaching and education. With
the assistance from ILI, BAI delegation also visited Center for Strategic and
International Studies and held meeting with their research team on think tank
building and their interaction and influence on governments.
The visit to US
ended with a signing of MOU with ILI and further cooperation will be carried
out in the future.
The visit is the
first official contact with American partners in recent year, especially with
South American partner like Brazil, which is also a BRICS nation. Further
results will come out following this visit.
