On June 4th, a
delegation from Georgetown University headed by Mr. Dennis McNamara visited BAI.
Mr. Dennis McNamara is a professor of Sociology and Korean Studies, and the special
assistant to the President of China Affairs in the university.
Before the
meeting, the delegation visited the Cemetery of Matteo Ricci and other foreign missionaries.
BAI Associate Professor Diao Linlin of the Economics Department briefed on the coordinated
development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the non-capital functions relocation
and the construction of world-class city clusters in the meeting. The two sides
held discussions and exchanges on specific issues such as the functional
orientation of the capital, urban planning and construction.
In the afternoon,
the delegation visited the Xinhua 1949 Beijing Cultural and Creative Industry
Exhibition Center to learn more about the development of Beijing as a cultural hub
of China and also some specific initiatives for the development of cultural and
creative industries.
