A delegation led by President Vladimir Shamakhov from North-West
Institute of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public
Administration (thereafter referred to as North-West Institute), paid a two-day
visit to BAI.
On October 26th, Executive Vice President Wang Minzhong held a
meeting with the delegation from North-West Institute in a cordial and friendly
atmosphere. Wang Minzhong first introduced some new ideas and expressions that
appeared in the report of the 19th CPC National Congress. Then he strengthened
the historical significance of the cooperation between the two institutes in
the context of China’s and Beijing’s development. Furthermore, he expressed his
willingness to deepen cooperation between both sides in the field of teaching,
research and policy consultation. Finally, Wang Minzhong explained specifically
to our Russian guests some concepts like “Beijing City Sub-center” “Xiong’an
New Area” “Coordinated Development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region” in a
way easy to understand.
President Shamakhov shared in the meeting a video of celebrating
the 25th anniversary of the foundation of North-West Institute. He also put
forward some suggestions on the themes of prospective scientific cooperation
between both sides, including training of talent specialized in strategic
planning of national and regional development, comparative study of urban diseases
between China and Russia, Smart City, etc. Wang Minzhong showed keen interest
in the construction of Smart City near St. Petersburg and China-Russia
cooperation in postgraduate degree education. North-West
Institute’s quantitative laboratory and civil servant training program also
impressed Wang.
Finally, both sides highly praised the achievements of “3+3”
exchange program, communication between experts, as well as scientific
cooperation during the past few years. Both sides showed confidence in
achieving greater success in cooperation during the next fifteen years.
