Dr. Murray D. MacTavish Lectured at BAI

On Mar. 23, 2015, invited by the Dept. of International Cooperation and Exchange, Murray D. MacTavish lectured for the faculties and graduate students of Dept. of Business Administration (Leadership Sciences) and Dept. of Public Administration with the topic “Servant Leadership: A Compelling Leadership Approach”.


Dr. Murray is the Director of School of Business, and also an Associate Professor of Leadership & International Development in Trinity Western University. In his lecture, he explained the definition and historical basis, the 10 qualities of servant leadership. Also he introduced the theory and model of servant leadership, and how it works. Finally, he elaborated on the strengths, criticisms and the applications of servant leadership, and he gave two specific examples of its successful applications in Chinese context. His lecture received a lot of questions from the audience.


The lecture was co-hosted by the Dept. of Social Research, which was the second on leadership science, with the first on the Intersection between East and West Leadership Theories delivered also by Dr. Murray last November. BAI also discussed issues on holding a seminar of this area in this June.
