A Delegation from Cologne of Germany Visited BAI

2013-05-23

On May 9 2013, headed by Dr. Agnes Klein, a deputy of the Lord Mayor of the city of Cologne, a six-member educational delegation visited BAI. Vice president Li Yanqi received the delegation.

Li briefed on BAI and introduced in more detail BAI’s cooperation with German partners like NRW administrative college and Adam Schall von Bell Association of Germany-China Cooperation. Dr. Agnes Klein gave high praise of BAI’s contribution to the enhancement of the cultural exchanges and friendship between Germany and China and she expressed their desire to continue to keep the tradition initiated by Adam Schall von Bell.

One of the purposes of this visit was to schedule the upcoming visit of a German student delegation from the city of Cologne. Knowing BAI’s experience in student exchange programs, Mr. Bernd Seifert, working as a project manager and coordinator for international affairs within the Department of Children, Youth and Families of Cologne, was quite optimistic that his cooperation with BAI would be fruitful.

The delegation walked around the campus and had a brief look at the facilities of BAI. Before leaving, the German guests paid their respect to the Graveyard of Matteo Ricci and other foreign missionaries, including the tombs of von Bell and other 5 German missionaries.

Other faculty of BAI engaged in this activity included Dr. Liang Jun, Ms. Zhang Lan, Ms Liu Jingdi and Mr. Chen Cong from the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange.
