Han Jiugen Headed a Delegation to Visit Harvard University and Rand Corporation

From October 14th to 18th, 2019, a five-member delegation led by Vice President Han Jiugen successfully concluded a five-day visit to US.

The visit was at the invitation of Harvard Kennedy School and Rand Corporation. They carried out face-to-face exchanges with the above-mentioned organizations on high-end think tank, scholar visits and the possible cooperation between each other.

 

On October 16, the delegation went to Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation of Harvard Kennedy School. The director of Ash Center, Anthony Saich and Senior Adviser Arnold M. Howitt warmly welcomed the delegation and introduced the basic information of Harvard Kennedy School, compared the views on the traditional concept of the public management and the new one. On behalf of BAI, Vice President Han Jiugen introduced the information of civil servant training and think tank research in BAI, and made comments and suggestions on further strengthening academic exchanges and cooperation, especially teacher training and other specific projects.



On October 17, the delegation exchanged with the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies in Johns Hopkins University to conduct work discussions and academic exchanges. Six experts including Prof. Mao Xuefeng (Andrew C. Mertha), head of the China Project Team, warmly received the delegation. The two sides frankly exchanged the views on how to play the role of think tanks in social governance and social development.

 

On October 17, the delegation visited the internationally renowned think tank, Rand Corporation (Washington Branch) for research and discussion. The two sides reached many consensuses on further academic exchanges and think tank research in the future.

 

This visit to the United States achieved the intended purpose. Through frank and deep exchanges, they have enhanced mutual understanding in some field, expanded the new space for international cooperation, and further enhanced the influence of BAI.
